What’s your 1-word Vision?

What’s your 1-word Vision?

Let’s pretend it’s 2026 – five years from now. If you had just one word to describe your vision for where your company will be in 2025, what would that one word be?

If you’re stuck for an answer, let me give you some help. Let me offer up 2 ½ possible one word choices – survive, thrive, goodbye.

Why 2 ½ you ask? That’s because “survive” is really only half of an answer. You may not use the word “survive”, but if you’re thinking that you can keep doing what you’ve been doing for the next five years and continue to enjoy the same rewards, I would say to you “look out!”. Everything is moving around you – your customers, your companies and your competition. So, if you’re not moving forward, you are actually moving backwards.

Let’s talk about “goodbye”. This is a great time to sell. Lots of hungry buyers, paying record high valuations. The next five years are going to be challenging and very rewarding. But the work is going to be hard and there are going to be times of uncertainty and doubt. We’re going to be doing a lot of reinventing. If you just don’t have the energy for this then maybe it’s time for you to say “goodbye”.

That leaves “thrive”.

It’s hard to think about “thrive” when we are in the midst of a pandemic, the economy is weak and we are fighting the hardest market in history. We can be sure that all this will pass. I wish I could give you a date!

I would be willing to bet, though, when these conditions do improve we’re likely to see a fairly significant economic boom. There’s a huge amount of pent-up demand out there. Are you ready?

It might be worth thinking about this question, right now. Those who are ready will experience a major growth spurt.

What do you think will be the attributes of a successful broker in 2026? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
